Applications are now open for Indigenous bands from the Northern Territory, Western Australia and South Australia for the 2013 Bush Bands Bash and Bush Bands Business.
The Bush Bands Bash (BBB)
is in its 10th year and has become the peak Central Australian Indigenous music showcase. Presented by MusicNT, the BBB concert provides an opportunity for six Indigenous bands to perform to a crowd of thousands at an event in Alice Springs. The BBB is preceded by Bush Bands Business (BBBiz)
- a three-day professional development and rehearsal intensive program for all the bands participating in the Bash. BBBiz sees musicians, technicians, support workers come together with local and national music industry and media representatives for three days of workshops and rehearsals, culminating in the performance at the BBB.
Bush Bands Project Coordinator (MusicNT) Jaspa Woods encourages Indigenous bands to apply for the BBB for the professional development and promotional opportunities. "The Bush Band Bash provides Central Australian desert bands with a great opportunity to perform in a large scale outdoor concert in Alice Springs. Combine this experience with the Bush Band Business that happens in the days leading unto the concert and a unique package of skill development, musical mentoring and performance is created." She added that bands selected for the BBB would feature on a BBB promotional CD and one band would have the opportunity to tour with Soundtracks.
Application for BBB close Monday, July 1st 2013.
Application forms and detailed information can be downloaded from the BBB page.
