The Folk Alliance Australia (FAA), in partnership with the National Folk Festival (NFF), are calling for nominations for the 2016 FAA Youth Award.

The Youth Award is an annual event that takes place at the NFF and aims to boost the profile of young performers and introduce, support and encourage them to the next level of their development.

Festivals, folk clubs, groups and arts organisations from around Australia can nominate an outstanding youth act for the award. The act must fall within the genres of traditional folk to contemporary folk. Solo acts and small bands between the ages of 14‐25 will be considered. Cross‐cultural performances are encouraged.

Selected nominees will perform at the Folk Alliance Australia Youth Award Concert in Canberra on Sunday 27 March 2016 where the FAA Youth Performer of the Year will be announced. All showcase performers will receive a free festival pass to the NFF (including camping), as well as some support towards travel.

In addition to 12 months of development support, the Winner will have the opportunity to feature and participate in the FAA Conference and will perform at a minimum of three national festivals. The Runner‐Up will receive development support within the music industry to the value of $500. Examples of this may include marketing support, design, photography, etc.

Nominations close: Monday 8 February 2016
