Irrunytju Band are from Wingellina, a Ngaanyatjarra community tucked inside the Western Australia border 10kms from the tri state border of WA, NT and SA.
Irrunytju Band break through the desert reggae mould to deliver an exciting new blend of sounds to their lands. Combining influences of rock, funk, blues and reggae, Irrunytju Band tell powerful and important stories through their music, songs about country, people and loved ones.
Already a household name throughout the NG Lands, Irrunytju Band undertook their debut album release ‘Titji Kutju’ (One Kid) in 2012; an exciting journey highlighting the rich diversity and talent in songwriting and musicianship that underpins the core of this musical collective. ‘Titji Kutju’ cements the bands role as an important voice for the lands and takes their music out to a wider audience.
Achievements to date include performances at Bush Band Bash 2010 (under their former name Alunytjuru Band), their film clip for the single ‘Kalka’ receiving airplay on NITV and ICTV, standout winners of NG Music Festival Band Competition 2010 and 2011 and brand new album ‘Tjiti Kutju’ released in 2012.
