Sista Sounds in Urban Schools- Expressions of Interest 2019

Sista Sounds is MusicNTs innovative program to encourage Indigenous women and girls to participate in music activities, whether as singer, songwriters or instrumentalists and to learn more about the music industry and opportunities within it. Experienced Sista Sounds mentors structure and provide practical workshops, based as far as possible on what participants are looking for.

Sista Sounds provides limited school based and remote community based workshops. In the past MusicNT has approached different communities or groups about visits. We are now calling for Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from organisations wanting to host this program.

We are keen to work with communities or organisations that can support Indigenous women and girls to continue with their music after or between Sista Sounds visits. This could include things like providing set times when they can access music equipment, employing Indigenous female music teachers or support staff, scheduling school concerts or presentations that Indigenous girls are actively supported to perform in.

If your EOI is successful, MusicNT will commit to providing at least one term of weekly activities in your urban school setting over a 12 month period. EOIs received by the end of Nov will be considered for inclusion in the program from the following Feb - June. EOIs received by the end of May will be considered for inclusion in the program from the following July - Nov.

More information about Sista Sounds can be found on the MusicNT website or by contacting Liz, the program manager on (08) 8952 0322 or 0409 073 765 or emailing
