Desert Divas, launched in Central Australia in 2010, offers an opportunity for Indigenous female artists to develop their music skills, leading to showcase performances. The program includes singing song writing, music industry and performance workshops as well as the annual Desert Divas Showcase at the Bush Bands Bash, held annually in Alice Springs.
Sista Sounds is MusicNT’s music program for Indigenous women and girls in Central Australia and the Northern Territory. The program has been running since 2011, and responds to a gap in opportunities for remote Aboriginal women to learn, practice and perform music, as well as pathways into the music industry.
Barkly Divas is a three-day workshop for Indigenous females in the Barkly Region who have a passion for music. Based on the successful Desert Divas program in Alice Springs, Barkly Divas is held during the Desert Harmony Festival in Tennant Creek.
Saltwater Divas s a three-day workshop for Indigenous females in the Darwin Region who have a passion for music. Based on the successful Desert Divas program in, Saltwater Divas is held during National Youth Week in Darwin.
An initiative that will provide young Indigenous singer/songwriters in Central Australia the opportunity to connect with traditional owners/elder women of Alice Springs.
