Saltwater Divas Story

Saltwater Divas s a three-day workshop for Indigenous females in the Darwin Region who have a passion for music. Based on the successful Desert Divas program in, Saltwater Divas is held during National Youth Week in Darwin.

2015 Saltwater Divas

2015 Saltwater Divas was held during City of Darwin’s LAUNCH program for National Youth Week on April 10-11. It focused specifically on supporting young singer songwriters in perfecting their performance and singing skills in the lead up to the beautful Saltwater Divas showcase at the Happy Yess on Saturday night April 11. The mentors this year included Leah Flanagan, Mandy Garling and Kirra Voller.

2014 Saltwater Divas

2014 Saltwater Divas was held during City of Darwin’s LAUNCH program for National Youth Week on April 9-10. It included workshops in music, songwriting, performance and confidence building with mentoring provided by successful Territory musicians Mandy Garling, Catherine Satour and Kirra Voller. The workshops led to a performance night at Happy Yess on Thursday, 10th of April at 7:30pm.

2013 Salwater Divas

In 2013 Saltwater Divas was a one-day workshop for Aboriginal female musicians wanting to develop their skills at a higher level, leading to a performance at the Darwin Entertainment Centre supporting Thelma Plum. The Divas were mentored by the Desert Divas Catherine Satour and Kirra Voller with special guests Saltwater Diva Mandy Garling and 2012 Triple J Unearthed Indigenous artist Thelma Plum.
