With a 15 year career starting with music journalism and winding its way through retail, radio, inflight media and management before landing in marketing, Stephen’s first business Australian Music Biz was started in Brisbane in 1999 providing publicity and radio plugging for indie and major artists.
In 2007 Stephen sold the company and undertook new projects including programming the international BIG SOUND Music Industry Summit and Showcase event in 2008 and 2009 and spearheading the successful rollout of the Play MPE, DMDS and D-Star Spins systems now used by all majors and most large independents for promo delivery and radio monitoring. In 2010 Stephen formed a new music marketing business, SGC Media and was listed in Music Network Magazine’s 30 most influential industry identities under 30. SGC currently provides PR and marketing for clients including Skinnyfish Music, Chugg Music, BIGSOUND, Abbe May, Sticky Fingers, Mia Dyson, Cub Scouts and many others.
Stephen currently holds board positions with Q Music (Queensland’s music industry peak body) and Music Industry Community Services (providing secondary education to young people) and is a councillor on the Music Council of Australia (MCA).
